Dr. S. Damodaraiah

I'm an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at JNTUA College of Engineering, Pulivendula, and an IBM Qiskit Advocate. My current work centers on quantum computing — specifically Variational Quantum Eigensolvers (VQE) and other NISQ-era algorithms — applied to quantum chemistry, materials science, and optimization problems, with an emphasis on efficient hybrid quantum-classical methods.

Before moving into quantum computing, I spent over five years researching the fluorescence kinetics of rare-earth doped phosphate glasses for laser and photonic device applications, work that formed my Ph.D. thesis and produced most of my 21 journal publications. That photonics and materials background still shapes how I think about quantum materials today.

Damodar Quanta is where I'm bringing both sides of that together — engineering physics for my students at JNTUA, and quantum computing explainers for anyone curious enough to follow along.

Currently focused on quantum computing, with a materials-physics foundation from my Ph.D. years.

QUANTUM COMPUTING

Quantum algorithms & simulation

Variational Quantum Eigensolvers (VQE) and other NISQ-era hybrid quantum-classical algorithms for quantum chemistry, materials science, and optimization — plus quantum information and post-quantum cryptography.

PHOTONICS

Photonics & quantum materials

Fluorescence kinetics and Judd–Ofelt analysis of rare-earth doped (Nd³⁺, Dy³⁺, Sm³⁺, Eu³⁺, Er³⁺, Ho³⁺) phosphate and borophosphate glasses, for laser, white-light, and optical amplifier applications — the subject of my Ph.D. and most of my journal record.

COMPUTATIONAL

Computational physics

Scientific computing in Python for spectroscopic data analysis and, increasingly, for prototyping the quantum circuits behind the algorithms above.
